Scripture:
Yet He Himself bore and took away the sin of many, and interceded [with the Father] for the transgressors. Isaiah 53:12b AMP

Why does God love me, us, you? How can the Creator of the universe die in our place?  Why did he suffer to save us from hell? It's not as if we even knew him before he went to the cross; or that our lifestyles were so exemplary that he would want to do die in our place. The Bible tells us that "while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us". While on the cross, Jesus was interceding for the Jews and for all of humanity, who had given him up and chosen the world. During his own moments of anguish, pain and rejection, Jesus was still praying for us, for fallen humanity; asking God to forgive us for ignorance. The only explanation to this is a combination of love, grace and mercy. Not just the one or the other, but all three intertwined. His love saw and still sees how helpless we are before the devil and his agents. Without his sacrifice, they would be throwing us about like a gym ball. Grace because that's the only way we would ever be able to and can stand before God; Mercy since we wouldn't have qualified otherwise. Why did he die for me? Infinite grace spoke on our behalf. Infinite mercy brought us before him. Amazing love reached out to us from the Cross.

Let's pray: Thank you Jesus, for the salvation of my soul. For the redemptive power and work of the Cross. For the victory won for us.  For bringing us back to our original status. Thank you.
