Scripture:
Then Saul dressed David in his garments and put a bronze helmet on his head, and put a coat of mail (armour) on him. 1 Samuel 17:38 AMP
This a story we all know: David, Goliath and Saul. We read that for forty days, all Goliath did was show up, wearing his armour or war apparel and frighten the whole army of Israel. Take note that he didn't fight or throw any weapons. He just showed up dressed for war but was not warring. He was taunting, frightening, making himself look more terrible than he actually was. Is there anything in our lives that appears more frightening than it actually is? Terrorizing is almost on a daily basis when in fact we don't have to be afraid? But the story gets interesting. Saul, the King of Israel, whom the Bible describes as taller than every man in Israel, is hiding in his tent. He has the war garment: a bronze helmet, a mail chain armour, a javelin, a spear and a sword. In fact, he has almost the same weapons as Goliath but he chose not to show up. Did you catch it? We also have the weapons to or for our warfare but instead of wearing them and showing up, we choose not to. We would prefer someone else to wear it for us and go to the battle front. Why? The first step to win the battle is to show up. To show up not in someone's attire and accoutrements but in our own. No one can pray for you the way you would pray for yourself. Instead of running away, it's time to take our stand, out on our full armour and fight back. Goliath is just an old man pretending to be scary. That problem will give way to the presence and power of our spiritual weapons. Don't run away, stand and fight in the name and power of The Lord of Hosts.
Let's pray: Father, I'm on the battle field, at the battle front, come and fight with me and for me. In the name of Jesus Christ I pray. Amen
