Scripture:
Let everything that has breath and every breath of life praise the Lord! Praise the Lord! (Hallelujah). Psalm 150:6 AMP
Is it possible to abandon ourselves totally and completely like David did? And dance until our outer and inner garments of guilt, shame, sadness, rejection, disappointment and many more fall off? Is it possible to abandon ourselves completely in God's presence? So he can work on us; remove those heavy burdens we're still wearing like uniforms? I very much doubt it. We're very self conscious: of those around us; our perceived positions in society, public opinion and many self imposed importance. We go to church with our masks tightly in place. We return home with our masks and our 'uniforms', still in place. Instead of allowing God's presence and his spirit to remove our soiled garments and replace them with his goodness, his light and favour, we hold tight to those things that don't add value to us. Our verse for today is encouraging us to praise the Lord. There's nothing like silent praise or quiet praise. We cannot stand stiff and uptight while praising God. You and I know what God has done for us. Let's praise and sing and dance like no one's business; and you know what? It's no one's business. It's between us and God.
Let's pray: As long as we're breathing, nothing will stop us from praising you God. We will sing, we will dance and throw ourselves upon you Father God. All the days of our lives. Hallelujah. Amen.
