Scripture:
So Peter was kept in prison, but fervent and persistent prayer for him was being made to God by the church. Acts 12:5 AMP
I don't believe there is anyone who can say prayer doesn't work. To add to that, I don't believe any prayer is ever lost. Hasn't it ever happened to you, when something occurs and you recognize it as an answer to a prayer you prayed a while ago? No matter how long it takes, one day, we'll receive the answers and we'll acknowledge the fact it is in answer to a prayer we prayed long ago. In Peter's case, the church, his friends, and fellow companions in the faith were praying for him. They didn't know how it would turn out but they believed God would do something. They didn't stop praying or slack in their zeal to pray because they hadn't yet received an answer. They didn't stop praying even though physical appearances pointed to the fact that it could well end in the same way James had been killed. When you read the scripture well, it shows that they had been praying around the clock for a few days in the hope that God would intervene. And God did. May we not give up even if earlier attempts have failed. May we not give up on prayer even if the answer seems to be delayed. May we not stop praying even if everything around us looks dead. God will come through for us at the exact time he needs to. May our prayers move heaven to intervene on our behalf.
Let's pray: Father, may your grace strengthen us to continue in prayer until our answers arrive. In the name of Jesus Christ we pray. Amen
