When the disciples were brought before the church court for speaking in tongues, preaching, and converting souls, one of their teachers said, 'if it was from God, nothing would stop it; if it was of man, it would soon fizzle out'. Christ followers and the faith hasn't fizzled out and it's growing stronger and stronger. That is a clear indication that God isn't a scam. God's words have been tried and tested by ordinary men and women like us. If it worked for them, why wouldn't it work for us. And if we read the Bible carefully, there were non-Jews who benefitted from God's grace. Meaning anyone at all is an ideal candidate to receive from God. Our scripture for today is an assurance that God's words work. Not only are his words a living being but they have stood the test of time. Since God's word is a living being, we need to invite the Word to stay with us, to be with us and to walk with us if we want to see it work out for us. We can't walk parallel to the Word and expect to see results. This year, may we walk closely with God's Word. May God's word become our foundation, our shield and anchor. May God's word release tangible results to us.
Let's pray: Father, we ask in the name of Jesus Christ, reveal the treasures and inner secrets of your word to us. Let your word cover us and respond when we activate them by faith. Amen
