Scripture:
But far be it from me to boast [in anything or anyone], except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. Galatians 6:14 AMP
Are you already humming to that favourite gospel song? "I have decided to follow Jesus, no turning back, no turning back. The cross before me, the world behind me. No turning back, no turning back". Catchy and beautiful lyrics but how true can we live this out? Like Apostle Paul said, all he sees and boasts about is the cross. Not the actual tree Jesus Christ was crucified on per se but the full redemption package and benefits of the cross. If we constantly revisit and remind ourselves of the results and benefits of the cross, our lives would be lived so much differently. The cross is a willingness of Christ to put himself in our place. He sacrificed himself, buying back and redeeming us from Satan. Through this, he gives us full power and authority to overcome all darkness and evil, and to do greater works than he did himself. And above all, to share this amazing package with others so they can also benefit. That's all what Paul is talking about; to live a life indebted to God and Christ. To live a life filled with meaning and understanding of who we are in Christ. Not to live like the world does, but to live as if we believe in the truth and benefits of Jesus Christ's death on the cross. And, to live in gratitude to God for this great sacrifice knowing we're daily victorious. Such a life can only be lived when we crucify the world and focus on the cross and it's full ramifications to us.
Let’s pray: Take us deeper in the revelation and knowledge of who you are Jehovah. In the name of Jesus Christ we pray. Amen
