Scripture:
But I have this [charge] against you, that you have left your first love [you have lost the depth of love that you first had for Me]. Revelation 2:4 AMP
What can we do when our love for Christ grows weak, stale, empty? What should we be doing to rekindle our relationship with God? How can we put the fire back? Like any other relationship, it requires us to invest quality time and energy into our love life with Christ. The foundation of a good relationship is to relate intimately with one another. If we relegate God to Sunday worship, or Sunday fellowship only, it will not be enough to sustain and support our relationship. We ask for revival in our churches, we pray for evangelists to bring in more people, yet until we ourselves are on fire for God, all these will be empty gestures. We need to have a revival on a personal level; to get back to that place where we first met Christ and confessed our love. Our passion to communicate with for God has to be reignited; no relationship can thrive where there's no communication. There has to be a rebirth in our spirit to chase God, to stalk him on a daily basis. If we could weigh love, how much would your love for God weigh? God's mercy is still available and so is his grace. We can always return and ask for his help to get us to the place of love, of personal revival, of rebirth.
Let's pray: Have mercy on us Lord, for our lip service and not heart service. Revive us again and rekindle our love. In the name of Jesus Christ we pray. Amen
