Scripture:
Pilate addressed them again, wanting to release Jesus, but they kept shouting out, "crucify, crucify Him!" Luke 23:20-21 AMP

How many times have we allowed public opinion, the loud voices of the populace, social media, swayed us into saying or doing things we would otherwise not have done? Just going with the times? Don't want to be tagged as "old school"? Pilate knew Jesus was innocent; he had had ample time to question him and he found him innocent. His inner sense told him this man is innocent, he should be freed. He sent Jesus over to Herod and Herod sent him back confirming that indeed Jesus was innocent. But he listened, not to reason or his own common sense, but to the loud voices of the public. He followed their trending discussions on crucifixion. He allowed the social influencers to get into his head. He dropped his values and his guard, and got swept away with the crowd. Sad isn't it? Sad when we also allow people who have no right to influence our lives, move us to forget what we stand for, what our principles scream against, what common sense tells us is wrong. Disappointing when we allow the lies of the devil to make us doubt God and short change ourselves. Unbelievable when we decide to stay in the dark even though we know the Light of the World has shone for us.

Let's pray: Father, open my ears to hear you. May the loud voices of the world not cause us to change directions and move away from you. In the name of Jesus Christ we pray. Amen
