Scripture:
Trust [confidently] in the Lord forever [He is your fortress, your shield, your banner], for the Lord God is an everlasting Rock [the Rock of Ages]. Isaiah 26:4 AMP

A sanctuary is a place of peace, of hope and of safety. It is a place where you can find the needed rest to re-charge depleted energies and strength. God is our sanctuary. He is our hiding place. He is our strong tower and mighty protector. Our problems stem from the fact that we don't trust God enough. We've made him too small and magnified our challenges above God. Our scripture today says God is the everlasting Rock of Ages. What does that mean for us? It means if we stand right on this Rock, we will not slip or fall; this Rock will not suddenly crumble because of our weight. And guess what? It's not a here-today and gone-tomorrow feature. It's reliable and dependable part of our lives. The same scripture assures us that God is our fortress, our shield and our banner. Meaning he is our safety manager, our personal bouncer, our hiding place. God is and can be everything to us if we will trust him confidently and totally. Do you remember what Amos said? He asked how can two walk together if they're not in agreement? God says he's our Rock, our Provider and Protector; yet we don't believe him enough to trust his words. It simply means we're lying to ourselves and we're not in agreement with God. This is how the vicious cycle of asking and not receiving begins. We ask not believing that we will receive because we think God can't give. If we want God to be our sanctuary and everything else, we need to trust and hold on to Him like our lives depend on him; because it does.

Let's pray: Father, break down any mental stronghold I have erected against you. Remove all my doubts and let's begin a new relationship of faith. I ask and pray in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen
