Scripture:
Blessed be the Lord, who bears our burden day by day, the God who is our salvation. Selah. Psalm 68:19 AMP

We all need that one person in our lives, who will stand with us; in thick and thin. Fair weather friends are nowhere to be found when the going gets tough and they are definitely not burden bearers. A burden bearer like the name suggests, is someone who will not only share your burdens with you but will ease the load off your shoulders and off your hands. Each time you share your troubles, a burden bearer will say something like "don't worry. I'll sort this out for you". And indeed they will. They are people you can confidently trust to do what they say they will do. People who will not share your information like a radio station, and who will not use you as a prayer topic. A burden bearer is a 24/7 support life line - either listening or doing something to help. And this is the perfect description of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. He is our 24/7 life support system. He took our sins upon himself; he bore them to the cross because he knew we couldn't. He asks us to throw all our cares on him because he cares, and, doesn't want to see us overburdened. He invites us to call on him at all times day or night. He assures us that he will always be there with us no matter what. And he says he will answer us and share with us his abundance. Christ is the burden bearer par excellence. I don't know about you but I need a burden bearer; I need Christ. Do you?

Let's pray: Father, I'm casting all my cares and worries upon you. Bear me up. Take them over. Bring relief to my troubled mind and soul. In the name of Jesus Christ I pray. Amen
