Scripture:
They said to one another, "Were not our hearts burning within us while He was talking with us on the road and opening Scriptures to us?". Luke 24:32 AMP
We all need a 'road to Emmaus' experience. We need to experience a moment where scripture becomes very real to us; not just printed words in black and white, but a taste of its manifestation. An experience where it's only Christ and me, you. These men travelling to Emmaus, were part of the larger group following Christ, they had seen him and heard him speak, but somehow they were unable to recognize him. Had Jesus changed that much or they didn't know him that well? That's a question we may not have an answer to now. But whatever it was, they recognized him only when he prayed and broke bread with them. That was the significant moment when they finally recognized him after walking miles and preaching for hours. And that's the glory moment we need to seek for ourselves. To be in an intimate setting with Christ, just him and us. In the crowd, with the congregation, we may claim to know him, from a distance we may think we know all about him, but it's only when we get closer, on our knees in our prayer closet that we will see him for who he truly is. It is only when we walk that road to Emmaus by ourselves, deliberately searching for Christ, will we experience a personal revelation of who Christ really is to us. Our faith is a personal relationship not feeding off the crowds or congregation.
Let's pray: Father, please open our eyes to see you. In every moment of living may we see and experience you. May we not miss our moments of glory in your presence. In the name of Jesus Christ we pray. Amen
