Scripture:
With all prayer and petition pray [with specific requests] at all times [on every occasion and in every season] in the Spirit, and with this in view, stay alert with all perseverance and petition [interceding in prayer] for all God's people. Ephesians 6:18 AMP
We talk a lot about prayer and praying. Yet, we are at times confused on what to pray about, how to pray and even how long to pray. Paul in the scripture above assures us that we can pray all kinds of prayer. Anything and everything that weighs on us, that requires God's intervention should be prayed for. You know how it is when you're having a conversation with someone? The more we talk, the more the topics change. If prayer is a conversation with God, that's much the same way we can talk about anything with him. What will we do with those things we need but don't mention? The only stipulation in praying is to pray specifically. Jesus said it and Paul is saying it too. Meaning it is an important ingredient in prayer. Tell God as it is. What do you want him to do for you? Tell him. Ask him and as Paul is saying don't stop asking until we have it. Prayer should be as seamless in our lives as eating. We're to pray in all circumstances and at all times. It starts by opening our mouths and calling on our Father. When we take that first step, the rest will follow. Our heavenly Father has very good hearing; even when we whisper our prayers, he hears. When we shout, he also hears us. When we have no words to articulate what we need, he knows our hearts. May nothing stop us from praying. May we intercede for others also through prayer. May we truly abandon ourselves on God through prayer. And may God hear us, in whichever language we pray, and send answers to us speedily.
Let's pray: Thank you Father for the medium of prayer. We ask today that you will bend your ear and listen to all of our prayers. When you hear us, please answer us in time. In the name of Jesus Christ we pray. Amen
