Scripture:
The King said, "What honour or distinction has been given to Mordecai for this?" Then the king's servants who attended him said, "Nothing has been done for him". Esther 6:3 AMP
Favour is when you are singled out for good and blessed, even though you least qualify for it. Throughout the Bible, we see people who were least qualified, 'favoured' to take up positions of honour, or called into prominence and significance. Look at Mary; she was a nobody until God's favour chose her to be the mother of Christ. Look at Esther; she was so insignificant that when she was picked among the girls, the Bible says "and Esther also". Look at Mordecai, he was of no importance that even when he had alerted the palace to an assassination attempt, nothing was done for him or to him. But favour spoke on his behalf, God's favour singled him out to be recognized and to receive the honour due him. The King's night must have begun ordinarily, but something was missing; sleep and the yearn to do someone good. How could listening to the book of records and memorable deeds bring him sleep? It wouldn't, but God who acts in ways that are unpredictable to man, was working behind the scenes; until the King's insomnia turned into: who at all can I help? Who needs my favour. When God's favour rests on you, it singles you out for good, for blessings, and it might not always come from the likely sources. May God's favour single us out for good in this second quarter of the year.
Let's pray: Father, may your favour clothe us like a garment. May it surround us like a shield. May your favour single us out for good. In the name of Jesus Christ we pray. Amen
