Scripture:
Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. Hebrews 4:16 KJV

On the cross, just before Jesus died, there were a number of significant events testifying that He was the Christ. Luke 23 records an eclipse; and during this eclipse, the veil in the temple leading to the Holy of Holies, was torn from top to bottom. If Christ hadn't died, how would we approach God? How would we have gotten through the Jews' selection process to serve God? The tearing of the veil made it possible for us also to be accepted, to come to God just as we are. The death of Christ nullified the need to go through all the copious regulations and observances to reach God. The death of Christ abolished the need for animal sacrifices and gave us direct access to God. Now we can call God "Our Father", and speak directly to him. We don't need to book an appointment, we don't need anyone to carry our messages, we don't need anyone to fine tune our prayers for us. We can come boldly into the Holy of Holies and not be struck dead. And, when we're in God's presence we receive from his bounty of mercy and grace. All this has become possible because of the death and blood of Jesus Christ.

Let's pray: Father, we pray for continued access into your presence. We ask that anytime we stand in your presence you will hear and answer us. In the name of Jesus Christ we pray. Amen
