Scripture:

He was hired for this reason, that I would be frightened and do as he said and sin, so that they would have [grounds to make] a malicious report in order to censure and disgrace me. Nehemiah 6:13 AMP

The heart of man is deep and in some cases dark. It is only by a spirit of discernment that we can understand or have insight into the thoughts and schemes of man. Folks might appear good minded, yet might be misleading and manipulative, just to satisfy their own needs. Before we move or take action over something we've heard, let's take a step back, consider the information from all angles before making a hasty decision. There are people who are masters in rumour mongering and peddling fear. Others are skilled in causing trouble. There are some, who are adept at instilling distrust and breaking apart what seems to be working well. In our scripture, a priest and an ally, was being used to sow the seeds of distraction, discouragement and to frighten Nehemiah. How did Nehemiah know? The Holy spirit's revelation and discernment. May we never be caught in the lying traps of the wicked. May we never walk foolishly into the plots and schemes of the wicked. May the revelation power of the Holy Spirit be open to us. Anytime we hear something that's too good to be true, let's ask more questions before we embark on it.  Anytime we are told something that frightens or discourages us, let's check the source and intent. Anytime someone says something about us or about someone, may we put a halt on our emotions instead of responding at once. May we be blessed with the spirit of discernment.

Let's pray: Father, please anoint me with a discerning spirit. Open my eyes and spirit to catch the goings on all around me. May I walk circumspectly. In the name of Jesus Christ I pray. Amen
