Talk of an indepth character analysis and this verse has all the key points in place. This is what we'd call divine advertising and divine promotion. This is a character reference from someone who had obviously observed David for a bit and knew his attitude, skills and personal faith in God. Don't you think there must have been other skilled lads in the land of Israel who could play a musical instrument just as well as David? However, because of the anointing upon him, he was singled out for favour. He was divinely advertised by someone whom David had no knowledge of. It is most likely David didn't even know that he was under observation by this person or any other person for that matter. Yet, his way of living had made an impact. The anointing upon him had changed his way of living just as the anointing had changed Saul himself in the beginning. May God's anointing fall upon us to change us completely inside and out. May God's anointing upon us make us do exploits in his name. May God's anointing upon us cause men and women to go out of their way to favour us. May God's anointing open great doors of opportunities for us. May we comport ourselves as men and women who carry the anointing of God upon our lives.
