Scripture:
Then the Lord said to Moses, "Behold, I will cause bread to rain from heaven for you; the people shall go out and gather a day's portion every day, so that I may test them [to determine] whether or not they will walk [obediently] in My instruction [law]. Exodus 16:4 AMP

Which option would you prefer: to have a daily constant supply of goodness or a one off supply? I don't know about you but I would prefer a daily constant supply. Each day, it's fresh, it's new, it's available and my needs for the day have been accounted for; there's no over or under supply. God knows what we need in each day, and he will deliver exactly what we need to cover the day. In the wilderness, he told the Israelites, gather what you need each day to satisfy yourself and your family, because I will supply on a daily basis. Some took more than a day's portion and it rotted. It's no longer 'daily bread' if we're gathering for more than a day. If God  were to test our obedience and our level of amassing more than we need, would we pass? Are we gathering more in a day than is necessary? Are we grabbing for today and the years ahead all in a day? Just as there were worms in what was left overnight, most of these things we're busy gathering don't last. In addition, in chasing hard after weekly, monthly and yearly provisions, our bodies suffer. We don't take any rest or good care of ourselves because we're busy gathering more than we need for the day. Jesus taught us to ask for our daily bread. Daily because God has the power and ability to supply our needs on a daily basis. If he couldn't, he would have said so. May we learn to trust and rely on God for our daily provision. He can sufficiently meet all our needs and requirements for the day. May we give God the chance to give us our daily bread.

Let’s pray: Father, give us our daily constant supply of your goodness. May all our needs be met today as we rely and trust in you. In the name of Jesus Christ we pray. Amen
