Scripture:
Since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God. 2 Corinthians 7:1 NIV
God has called us into holiness, to live a life that is pleasing to him. It's unthinkable when we claim we're Christians and yet we're still hooked to the impure things of the world. His word doesn't say body, soul and sin. His word says "let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body, soul and spirit". And come before him as a clean and acceptable sacrifice. God's promises are very selective; they flow into areas of purity and holiness. Even though God announces his blessings publicly, they are reserved and released for those who live in purity and holiness and reverence for him. Is there a promise we've been praying over, believing that it will be released and yet it is still hanging? Perchance we're harbouring some filth. Unforgiveness is filth. Pride too. Murmuring and complaining against the very God we're seeking his goodness, is a big no no. There are several little things we do or over look that go against God's words and his will. He's inviting us to come clean. He's inviting us to come without the unnecessary baggage. This year, may we separate ourselves from all filth and challenge God to fulfill his words to us.
Let’s pray: Father, I have come before your throne just as I am. Cleanse and make me whole. In the name of Jesus Christ I pray. Amen
